What files do I need to backup or transfer my databases, symbols, and drawings.

Pro Contractor Studio is installed by default in the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer. We recommend that you use Windows Explorer or My Computer to backup your database and drawing files to a safe location should you lose your hard drive or need to reinstall the software. If you have made changes to the databases or symbol drawing files, you will need to transfer your database and drawing files to your new computer. Databases In the Pro Contractor Studio folder location you will find four files. The PCS Irrigation.mdb file is the irrigation equipment database. The PCS Landscape.mdb is the landscape plant material and fill materials database. The PCS Lighting.mdb file is the accent lighting equipment database and the The PCS Drainage.mdb file is the drainage equipment database. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, make a backup copy of these files and store them in a safe location. Symbol Files Irrigation and plant symbol files are stored in the Symbols sub folder of the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer. There are multiple folders within this location. We recommend that you backup the entire Symbols folder and all of its sub folders. In the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer you will also find a Misc Symbols sub folder. This folder contains multiple sub folders for installation detail drawings and miscellaneous symbols such as automobiles, furniture, and license seal drawings. We recommend that you backup the entire Misc Symbols folder and all of its sub folders to a safe location. Template Files The template drawings that appear in the Startup Screen when the software starts on the computer are stored in the Templates sub folder of the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer. We recommend that you backup these files if you have modified them in any way. Drawing Files Your drawing files are stored where ever you placed them on your computer. By default, the software will save the files in the Drawings sub folder of the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer. However, you can save your drawings at any location. All drawings end with a .pcs file extension. If you are not sure where your drawings are located on your computer, we recommend using the Search feature in Microsoft Windows Explorer to locate your drawing files.
