How do I create a shortcut icon on my desktop?

Creating an icon on your desktop

Creating an icon on your desktop is fairly easy. First, open Windows Explorer by clicking on the Start button and choosing Windows Explorer from the Programs menu. Next, switch to the directory that contains the file for which you want to create a shortcut. For RainCAD or EcoCAD, you must switch to the TKO or SRCAD directory (assuming you have installed the software in the default directory). For Photoscapes, switch to the Program Files\Photoscapes directory (assuming you have the software in the default directory). Now, locate the executable file that runs the program. RainCAD 5.0 uses the DCW.EXE file, RainCAD 6.0 uses the SRCAD.EXE file and Photoscapes uses PHOTOSCAPES.EXE file. Find the file in the right hand pane. Once you have located the file, click on the file name with the right mouse button. A menu will appear on the screen. Click on Send To and then Desktop (create shortcut). A shortcut icon will be placed on your desktop for the selected file. Refer to the following diagram:
