Can I copy the database from one computer to another to save my settings and information?

Yes, you may copy the database files to prevent having to re-enter all of your database changes including symbol assignments, color settings or pricing information. Pro Contractor Studio is installed by default in the C:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder on your computer. If you are running a 64-bit operating system, the software will be installed by default in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder. Copying the Database Files

  1. Close the Pro Contractor Studio software on both computers. You cannot overwrite files that are in use.
  2. In the Pro Contractor Studio folder location on the initial computer you will find two files. The PCS Irrigation.mdb file is the irrigation equipment database. The PCS Landscape.mdb is the landscape plant material and fill materials database.
  3. Using Microsoft Windows Explorer or My Computer, copy these two files to a flash drive or CD.
  4. Safely eject the flash drive or CD from the initial computer and insert it into the secondary computer.
  5. Again using Windows Explorer or My Computer, copy these two files from the flash drive or CD to the Pro Contractor Studio 1 folder location on the secondary computer.
  6. Answer Yes to overwrite the existing files.
  7. Start the Pro Contractor Studio software on the secondary computer and you should now see the database information from the initial computer.
