How can I change the color or linestyle of the mainline or lateral line after it is on the design screen?
All pipe whether it is lateral line or mainline pipe is colored based on the color setting for each size of pipe in the Pipe database, or the color setting for different zones on the Pipe tab in the Options/Info > Irrigation Preferences command.
Which color will be used is determined in the Automatic Pipe Sizing command on the Options tab. If the Automatically Color Code Pipe checkbox is disabled or unchecked, the color from the Pipe database will be used. If the checkbox is enabled or checked, the colors from the Irrigation Preferences command will be used. The color of the pipe is not set to ByLayer by default.
In addition, lateral line pipe is always drawn as a Continuous linetype while Mainline is always drawn as a Dashed linetype.
Once the pipe is on the drawing screen you cannot change its properties in the Explorer Layers command because the color and linetype are set for each individual line on the drawing.
For example, if you need to change the color or linestyle of the entire mainline at one time, follow these instructions:- Click on the Settings > Explore Layers command and locate the name of the layer to change such as L-PIPE-MAIN-C200.
- Type _ENTPROP in the Command Line and press Enter.
- At the Select entities to modify: prompt, type PRO and press Enter.
- At the Select by properties: prompt, LAYER and press Enter.
- At the Layer name(s) to select <*>: prompt, type in the name of the layer determined in step one above such as L-PIPE-MAIN-C200 and press Enter.
- At the Select by properties: prompt, click into the Command Line and press Enter. It is very important that you click into the Command Line before pressing Enter at this point.
- The Entity Properties box will appear. Change the Select Color button and change the color as required. Changing the color to ByLayer will allow you to change the color for the mainline pipe in the Settings > Explore Layers command. Change the Linetype drop down menu to ByLayer and the pipe will begin reading the linetype from the Explore Layers settings as well.
