Diagnoses (PERFORM THIS STEP TO DETERMINE YOUR SOLUTION):
Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, navigate to the folder where RainCAD / Land Illustrator is installed. By default, it will be installed in the c:\Program Files\Software Republic\RCLI 2008 IntelliCAD folder. Verify that the RCLI 2008 Intellicad Host.dll file exists.
If the file does not exist, then you have preliminary version of the software installed and will need to install the latest version of the software. The latest version of the software can be downloaded from the following link:
http://www.softwarerepublic.com/demos/RCLI_2008_IntelliCAD_Setup.exe
If you have purchased the software and we have shipped you a CD, contact our sales staff and request another CD with the latest version. If the RCLI 2008 Intellicad Host.dll file does exist, then you are running the latest version and will need to refer to the following solutions to get the program up and running.
Solution - Windows 2000/XP Users
There was a problem during the install process which could have been caused by a restricted Windows account, anti-virus, or anti-spyware software. You will need reinstall RainCAD / Land Illustrator using an administrator account. You will NOT need to reinstall AcceliCAD. If you have a system administrator that has setup your Windows login account, please contact them for assistance. Also, make sure to shut down any programs that you are running including anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.
Once you are logged in using an administrator account and all running programs, including anti-virus, have been shut down, go to your Start button and look in the Programs menu. Locate the RainCAD Land Illustrator 2008 IntelliCAD Edition menu, open it, and choose RainCAD Land Illustrator Registration. Take note if you receive any errors during the registration process. Once the program has been registered correctly you should be able to start AcceliCAD with RainCAD / Land Illustrator. If you continue to get an error then there is still a restriction with your login account and/or a program that is currectly running is causing a problem.
Solution - Windows Vista Users
There is a permission setting that is causing a problem with the program registering with Windows. This is typical of Windows Vista. Vista has the UAC (User Account Control) that pretty much blocks everything. It is responsible for all of the pop-up prompts that you see when trying to run programs. The best bet to get the program running is to temporarily turn the UAC off and run the registration program again.
To temporarily disable the UAC in Windows Vista and run the registration program:
- Go to the Control Panel from the Windows Start button.
- Open System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > System Configuration.
- In the System Configuration window, select the Tools tab.
- On the Tools tab, select Disable UAC then click the Launch button. This will disable the UAC.
- Reboot your computer.
- Once the computer reboots, go to your Start button and locate the RainCAD Land Illustrator 2008 IntelliCAD Edition program group in the All Programs listing.
- Run the RainCAD Land Illustrator Registration program.
- Start the AcceliCAD program again and see if you still receive the error message.
You can turn the UAC back on by repeating the Control Panel steps above, but choosing Enable UAC instead of Disable UAC. After Enabling the UAC, you will need to reboot the computer.
