After exporting a drawing to AutoCAD®, it cannot be opened in AutoCAD® or the AutoCAD® commands are extremely slow.
Before exporting to AutoCAD®, there are some steps you can take to explode the DesignCAD blocks.
- Save the drawing under a different file name so you not destroy the original.
- Turn on all of the sprinkler arc layers (720 - 726) so that you can select the sprinkler symbols.
- Select all of the sprinkler symbols and select Group Explode from the Tools menu in DesignCAD. This separates the arc patterns and attribute numbers from the actual sprinkler symbols.
- Using the Layer command from the Options menu in DesignCAD, select each of the sprinkler layers (712 - 718) that have something drawn on them one at a time. For example, start by selecting layer 712 and proceed to the next step.
- With a sprinkler layer selected, choose Selection Edit from the Edit menu in DesignCAD.
- In the Selection Edit menu, click on Convert and then click Explode. This explodes the sprinkler blocks.
- Go back to step 4 and select the next sprinkler layer and work through to step 6. Do this for each sprinkler layer that has something drawn on it.
- Go back to step 4 and select layer 758 Irrigation Symbols and proceed through to step 6.
- Turn off the sprinkler arc layers if necessary.
- Export to AutoCAD®.
