Problem with importing DXF or DWG files with images as a part of the drawing.

When importing a DXF or AutoCAD DWG drawing file into DesignCAD, an image that is attached as part of the drawing will not translate.

There is one way of getting around this small problem.

  1. Have the original CAD user mark a point at the bottom left corner and top right corner of the image in the original drawing file.
  2. Have them send you both the original drawing and the image file.
  3. Import the drawing into DesignCAD as usual using the Import command from the File menu. You should see the drawing and the bottom left and top right point marks.
  4. Choose Image from the File menu in DesignCAD and then choose Load Image File.
  5. Locate the image on your computer and click on the Open button. The image will appear as a rectangular box on your mouse cursor.
  6. Snap to the bottom left point mark and the top right point mark. The image will load to the drawing screen and should be scaled proportionally.
  7. Select the image and click on Selection Edit from the Edit menu in DesignCAD.
  8. Choose Move to Back and then refresh the drawing screen.

You may also want to place the image on a layer of its own and lock the layer to prevent from moving the image during the design process.
