We use Crystal Reports to display and export the material list in RainCAD/EcoCAD. The error message returned is not a RainCAD/EcoCAD or Crystal Reports message. The error message displayed is returned from Microsoft Outlook (Outlook) that is installed on the computer.
Crystal Reports loads a list of data sources available on the computer. As the drivers load, Crystal Reports tests each of the drivers that are contained in the list. The reason Crystal Reports tests each driver is to ensure that the dependency files are available for a successful connection.
Outlook detects that Crystal Reports has performed a test of the messaging drivers and checks to see if Outlook is the default mail client on the computer. If Outlook is not the default mail client, Microsoft displays the error message. If you open Outlook located on the same computer and attempt to select any data source, the same error message occurs.
There are several options available to resolve this issue:
Option 1:
Make sure that Outlook is the default mail client:
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab.
- To specify Outlook as the default e-mail client, click Outlook in the drop-down list.
- Click OK, and then try again to export the report. For more information, visit Microsoft's website at www.microsoft.com.
Option 2:
Use share-level, not user-level, access control:
- On the desktop, right-click Network Neighborhood, and then click Properties.
- Click Access Control, click Share-level access control, click OK, and then try again to export the report.
Option 3:
Paste a new copy of Mapi32.dll into the Windows\System folder:
- Click Start on the taskbar, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
- In the Search for files or folders named box, type Mapi32.dll, and then click Search Now.
- Right-click the file that appears, and then click Rename.
- Type a new name for the file, and then press ENTER.
- Extract the Mapi32.dll file from your Windows 95 or Windows 98 media, paste the file into the Windows\System folder, and then try again to export the report.
Option 4:
If you do not want to set Microsoft Outlook as the default mail client, rename the messaging drivers to prevent them from loading.
To prevent the messaging drivers from being loaded, complete the following steps:
- Close RainCAD/EcoCAD.
- From Start, click Find, then click Files or Folders.
- Perform a separate search on your computer for each of the following files - P2smapi.dll and P2soutlk.dll.
- Right Click each file, click Rename.
- Change the extension of each file to .old. For example, "P2smapi.old".
- Restart RainCAD/EcoCAD and try to export the material list once again. The error message should not return.
