How do I print or plot my drawing on a sheet size larger than my printer’s capabilities?

There are multiple ways to output your drawing on a larger sheet size:

  1. You must first determine what device the reprographics company is using and install an HPGL driver for that device on your computer. Set the device as your default printer in Windows. Print the drawing as usual, except you will click on the “Print to File” checkbox in the Print dialog box. Once you create the print file, you may need to rename the file to a .plt extension instead of the default .prn extension using the Windows Rename command. Send this file to the reprographics company for output.

  2. If you have a Kinko’s in your area, you may also want to try a service they offer that one of our users told us about. It’s called the Kinko’s File Prep Tool. You can find information on the service at www.kinkos.com. This appears to be a good method of outputting to larger sheet sizes.
