Irricalc

Irricalc is telling me that I need to run my system for ten minute four times a day. How do I make it water only two times a day?

The schedule created by Irricalc is based on the information entered in each of the dialog boxes. There is one thing to keep in mind; if Irricalc calculates additional cycles, you may be creating a runoff situation if you decrease the number of cycles and increase the run times. To adjust the number of cycles:

  1. Click on the Scheduling pull-down menu.
  2. Choose Specific Station Information.
  3. Change to the desired station using the arrows in the bottom left corner of the dialog box. The current station number is display at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Either decrease the precipitation rate of the sprinklers, or increase the infiltration rate of the soil. A low run time with a high number of cycles usually indicates that the soil can not accept the water at the rate in which it is being applied.
  5. Check to make sure the root depth of the plant is not too deep. Seventy percent of the moisture extracted by the roots occurs in the top fifty percent of the root zone.
