A drawing template file contains preset settings for layers, colors, line types and more. You can select one of the existing template files supplied with the software, or you may create your own template files.
Template files are stored by default in the c:\Program Files\Software Republic\Pro Contractor Studio\Templates folder.
When a new drawing is created from an existing template file, the new drawing is automatically renamed to prevent overwriting the original template drawing. Any changes to the new drawing do not affect the original template file.
To create a new drawing from an existing template file:
-
Click on Startup Screen from the File menu.
-
Under New Drawing header, you will see a list of the existing template file names.
-
Click on a template file name to create a new drawing from the existing template file. When opening a template drawing from the Startup Screen dialog box, the template will be loaded to the screen and renamed as Drawing X.pcs. This will prevent you from overwriting the original template file saved in the ...\Pro Contractor Studio\Templates folder.
To create a new template file:
-
From the File menu, choose New.
-
Adjust the settings in the Drawing Page Setup command.
-
Click on the OK button to create the new drawing page.

-
Save the new template in the ...\Pro Contractor Studio\Templates folder on your computer.
