The following data may be modified per plant:

Climate Zone

A climate zone is an area in which the average prevailing weather conditions as determined by the temperature, humidity and other meteorological changes, cause a plant to succeed and flourish while others fail and perish. Select one or more climate zones in which the plant flourishes in the Climate Zone box. Click on each selection with the left mouse button until a checkmark appears in the box.

Flower Color

Plant Type

Select one or more plant types that may be associated with the selected plant material in the Plant Type box. Click on each selection with the left mouse button until a checkmark appears in the box.

Soil Preference

There are many different types of soils. Some soils are sandy with loose-grained particles that crumble when touched. Other soils are finer textured and form clods when dry, but are quite plastic and sticky when wet. Usually the more clay like the soil is, the more water it will store, while coarse sandy soils hold less water. Select one or more soil types in the Soil Preference box. Click on each selection with the left mouse button until a checkmark appears in the box.

Flowering Season

Select the season in which the plant blossoms for the Flowering Season box. Click on each selection with the left mouse button until a checkmark appears in the box.

Maximum Height

Maximum Diameter

Type in the diameter of the plants canopy at maturity in the Max Diameter text box.

Flower Size

Enter the average size or diameter of the plants blossom in the Flower Size text box.

Life Span

Enter the expected life span of the plant material in years in the Life Span text box.

Growth Rate

Select the average growth rate of the plant material from the Growth Rate drop down menu.

Fragrance

A fragrance is defined as a sweet smell or pleasant odor. Select the degree of fragrance from the Fragrance drop down menu.

Fire Resistance

Select the fire resistance best suited for the plant material from the Fire Resistance drop down menu.

Exposure

Different plants prefer different amounts of sunlight. Some prefer dark shady areas while others prefer bright sunny areas. Select the exposure that best fits the plant material from the Exposure drop down menu.

Water Requirement

Plants require different amounts of water to succeed and flourish. Over watering can be as harmful as not watering at all. For example, most ground covers and shrubs require less water than cool season turf grasses. Creating a landscape using xeriscape practices will usually require the least amount of water use. Select the water requirement best suited for the plant material from the Water Requirement drop down menu.

Note:

  • An image of the plant material and general care or installation notes to appear in the Plant Care report may be entered on the Image and Notes tab.

  • Set the cost associated with each plant and the tied assembly assignment in the Equipment Costs command.
