The Quantity Labels command allows you to place the number of plant symbols and description on the drawing screen.

To place one or more quantity labels on the design screen:

  1. Follow the Command Line and set points to outline one or more plant symbols on the design screen by clicking with the left mouse button.  If a plant symbol fits 100% inside of the area, it will be counted and displayed in the resulting dialog box.

  2. Click on a quantity and description in the Select Plant for Quantity Label area.

  3. Select a leader type with or without an arrowhead from the Leader Type drop down menu.

  4. If a leader type with an arrowhead is selected, enter the Arrow Size in the text box.

  5. To extend the leader line below or above the quantity and description label on the design screen, click on the Extend Leader Below/Over Text checkbox until a checkmark appears.

  6. Select the font style for the text from the Font drop down menu.  A sample of the selected font will appear in the Text Preview window at the bottom of the dialog box.

  7. Adjust the font characteristics by clicking on the checkbox to the left of Bold or Italic.  A check mark in the box indicates the characteristic is turned on (enabled).  An empty box indicates the characteristic is turned off (disabled).  A sample of the selected font and enabled characteristics will appear in the Text Preview window at the bottom of the dialog box.

  8. Adjust the alignment of the text by clicking on the Alignment drop down menu and clicking on the selection of choice.  The alignment determines the position of the text in relation to the leader line.  The alignment location is shown in the Text Preview window as a small blue plus (+) sign.  

  9. Enter the height of the font in the Font Height text box.  The height is related to the units of measurement setting.  For example, a setting of 10 will equate to 10 feet or 10 meters depending on the units of measurement setting.  The height is not reflected in the Text Preview window.

  10. Click on the Draw Quantity Label Leader button to begin placing the leader and text on the design screen.

  11. The chosen plant material will be highlighted on the design screen.  Follow the Command Line and set three or more points for the leader and text location.

  12. Press the Enter key to complete the command and place the label on the screen.

Note:

  • The plant symbols are "grouped" together per quantity label.  If one or more symbols are deleted from the design, the quantity label will automatically update to the remaining number of plant symbols.

  • You can have the plant name appear as the Common Name, Botanical Name, or as the plant Abbreviation by setting the Label Name Display Type in the Landscape Options command.

  • You can have the abbreviation appear in the symbol legend by enabling the Show Plant Abbreviation checkbox in the Legend command.
