The Lighting tab will allow you to adjust settings that are common to accent lighting design.

To set the lighting preferences:

  1. Click on the Lighting tab.

  2. When automatically sizing lighting wire or cable, wire must be connected within a set distance of the insertion point of a fixture or transformer symbol, or the end point of another piece of wire or cable.  The default setting is 3 inches.  If the wire is not connected properly, the software will not consider it connected to the symbol or another piece of wire.  If wire from two different circuits end within the connection distance, the software will consider the two circuits to be connected.

The only exception to the rule is at the transformer location.  Wire from two or more circuits can meet within the connection distance at the insertion point of the transformer symbol.  The software will ignore the connection distance at the transformer.

To change the default distance setting, click on the Wire Connection Distance drop down menu and click on the distance of your choice.

  3. In the Symbol Scale Factors area, type in the desired factor in the text box associated with each different type of symbol.  This scale factor setting will increase or decrease the size of the symbols when they are placed on the design screen.  To increase or decrease the size of existing symbols on the design, enter the Symbol Scale Factors and click on the Apply button.

  4. Under the Wire Size Label Settings header, adjust the characteristics for the wire size labels as necessary.

  5. If the Color Code Wire by Zone check box is enabled when sizing wire using the Lighting Calculations command, the color of the wire will be based on the settings under the Auto Wire Colors area.  If the Color Code Wire by Zone check box is disabled, the wire will be colored based on the settings in the Wire/Cable placement command.  To set the alternating colors for the wire zones, click on each color button one time with the left mouse button to open the Color dialog box.  Select a color and click on the OK button.  There are nine alternating colors used in color coding each wire zone.

  6. Click on the Close button to exit the dialog box.

Note:

  • You can change the line type, width and scale of the Lighting Wire layer in the Layer Manager.

  • The lighting symbol scale factors will automatically increase or decrease in size based on the output Scale setting in the Drawing Page Setup command.
