The Layer Linear Lengths command will allow you to add layer names to calculate the linear length of all lines drawn on the layer in the material takeoff or legend. You can create layers in the Layer Manager. For example, you may create a layer for Metal Edging or Fencing. You can then add the layer names to the list in the Layer Linear Lengths command and the total length of the entities drawn on these layers will be included in the material list and legend.
To add or delete layers:

Click on the Layer Linear Lengths tab.

To add a new layer name to the list, click on the Add button. A New Layer will be placed in the list and you can immediately enter the layer name.

To remove a layer from the list, select the layer name in the list and click on the Delete button.

To rename a layer in the list, select the layer name and click on the Rename button. Enter a new layer name and press the Enter key.

To disable a layer from the calculations, click on the checkbox to the left of the layer name until the checkmark is removed from the box. To include the layer in the calculations, click on the checkbox until a checkmark appears in the box.

To add value to the length of the layer, under the Selected Layer Properties header enter the , and . Enter the values per linear unit. If Feet is the chosen Units of measurement, the linear length will be priced per foot. If Meters is the chosen Unit of measurement, the length will be priced per meter.

Enter a part number to further identify the entities drawn on the layer in the text box.

Click on the Close button to exit the dialog box.
