The Distribution command will create a densogram of the selected sprinkler zones displaying the coverage.  The command will allow you to calculate the distribution of a single zone, multiple zones, or the entire project.  The command reads the sprinkler layout from the design with no restrictions on sprinkler placement.

In addition, the command calculates the area of each zone, the flow, and the precipitation rate when the command is opened. You can place all of the information on the design screen in a table format.

To calculate the distribution:

  1. Select each zone number to calculate by clicking on the checkbox in the Zone # column.  Click on each selection with the left mouse button until a checkmark appears in the box.  A zone that has not been selected will not be calculated.

  2. Enable or disable the Adjust densogram for coverage analysis setting by clicking on the checkbox.  If the setting is disabled (unchecked), the densogram will display the coverage based on the true amount of water applied to any area.  If the setting is enabled (checked), the densogram will even out the coverage to make it easier to spot holes or dry spots in the sprinkler layout.  The driest areas will appear in white with the wettest areas appearing in the darkest shade of blue.

  3. Click on the Show Densogram for Checked Zones button to create a densogram of the selected sprinkler zones.

  4. Click on the Insert Data on Drawing button to place the calculations on the drawing screen in a table format.  Adjust any of the font settings as necessary and click on the Place Text Table button.  Set one point on the design screen for the top left corner of the table.

  5. Click on the Close button to exit the dialog box.

Note:

  • When the command opens it immediately begins calculating the distribution and precipitation rate information from the design.  You can press the Esc key to exit the command during this process.

  • The command reads the Distribution Data for each sprinkler from the sprinklers database.  If data does not exist for the sprinkler, the distribution pattern of each sprinkler is assumed to be even over the entire radius of the sprinkler throw.  In instances where actual distribution data does not exist for each nozzle, the distribution will not be totally accurate but will serve as a good guideline for potential wet and dry areas.

  • The precipitation rate for each zone is based on actual readings of distribution from each sprinkler.  Pro Contractor Studio takes sample readings throughout each zone and calculates the average precipitation rate for the zone.

  • The total irrigated area for the project will be less than the sum of the area for each zone.  Sprinklers from different zones will throw into the same area.  This fact will duplicate the area in some instances.

  • The precipitation rate for Drip Tubing zones is calculated using the industry standard Area formula.  The wetted area is determined by the Drip Area or Drip Boundary drawn on the design.

  • A densogram cannot be created for drip zones since it is not possible to determine the wetted area based on unknown conditions such as soil type, compaction, root structure and more.

  • To print the densogram, leave the Distribution command open with the densogram displayed and use the Print command to output the drawing to the printer.
