The Area/Volume Calcs command will calculate an area and volume of fill material and store the information for the material list or estimate/proposal. Areas may be filled with a solid fill, gradient blend, or hatching pattern that is assigned to the fill material. There is no limit to the number of areas you may have per design.
To calculate the area/volume:
-
Set up the information for the fill material on the Fill Materials tab.
-
Click on the Areas tab.
-
Chose the area selection method from the drop down menu. Draw Manual will allow you to set points to outline the area. From Selection will allow you to select the entities that enclose the area. From Point will allow you to set a point inside of a closed area.
-
Click on the Add button or
icon and follow the prompts in the Status Bar. You can add, delete or rename the area names.
-
A New Area will be added to the list. You can Rename the area as required.
-
In the Area Fill Properties section of the dialog box, click on the Show Area Border checkbox until the checkmark is removed to hide the outline, or leave the box checked to display the area outline.
-
Click on the drop down menu to the right of Fill Material 1 and select a fill material from the list. The fill settings for the gradient fill or hatching assigned to the first fill material selected will display on the design screen.
-
To calculate a volume of fill material, enter a depth in the Depth text box and press Enter.
-
Select other fill materials as necessary and enter a depth for each as required.
-
Click on the Insert Data button to place the selected area/volume information on the design screen. Adjust any of the font settings as necessary and click on the Place Text Table button. Set one point on the design screen for the top left corner of the table.
-
Click on the Close button to exit the dialog box.
Note:
-
In the Material List / Estimate command, you may list fill material calculations by Area or as a total of all Areas combined.
-
The fill settings for the gradient fill or hatching assigned to the first fill material selected will display on the design screen.
-
You may assign up to five fill materials per area selection. This will allow the single outline of an area while counting the volume of fill material for multiple selections such as soil mix, fertilizer and mulch.
-
You can speed up the design process by temporarily turning the fill patterns off in the Layer Manager.
