Dimensions are made up of text, dimension lines, extension lines, and arrow types. The following illustration is a diagram of the different parts of a dimension.

Dimension Text:
A string of text that indicates the distance measurement.
Dimension Line:
A line that indicates the direction and extent of a dimension. The dimension line is an arc on Angular Dimensions.
Arrow Types:
Are displayed at each end of the dimension line. You can specify different sizes and shapes for arrowheads or tick marks.
Extension Lines:
Extend from the drawing entity to the dimension line.

You can set values for all dimension parts and the color assignments in the Options command on the Dimensions tab.
